Preinstalled apps are displayed on some devices but not on others

When a device is erased and activated, some preinstalled apps may or may not be restored, which can result in differences in the apps displayed on the home screen.

This difference is caused by factors such as the following:

◆ Case 1: Preinstalled apps are not restored
 - Differences in iOS / iPadOS versions:
The types of preinstalled apps may differ depending on the OS version. For example, an app that was added in a newer OS version may not exist in an older OS.

 - Network bandwidth, etc.:
If a cloud icon is displayed on an app icon, it means that an app you used before is shown again on the home screen as a restore candidate, but the app itself has not been downloaded yet.
One of the main reasons for this state is that automatic download of the app is temporarily put on hold, for example because the Wi-Fi connection is unstable or the network bandwidth is low right after erasing the device. If the app is not downloaded after some time, you need to tap the icon.

◆ Case 2: The app usage restriction set in the profile is not working
 - Differences in iOS / iPadOS versions and insufficient app specification in the profile's Allow only some apps
If the usage restriction settings are still based on an older OS, preinstalled apps added in a newer OS are not subject to the restriction and are displayed as unintended apps.

If you have configured settings like the following in a profile, check that all the intended apps are specified.

 - For iPhone / iPad:
Configuration Profile > Restrictions > Restrict app usage (Supervised only, iOS 9.3 and later)
→ If Allow only some apps is enabled, check the allowed apps.

 - For Android:
Profile > Application Configuration > Apps to hide
→ Check the apps specified to be hidden.

If you see differences in how preinstalled apps are displayed, check whether any of the above settings apply.

Key points for action
 - Whether the app depends on the OS version
 - Whether the app itself is not installed (reinstall it from the App Store if necessary)
 - Whether the app is restricted or hidden by a configuration profile
