I want to remove a broken device from ADE (formerly DEP) for repair

Unassign the device from ADE in Apple Business (formerly Apple Business Manager).

  1. Sign in to Apple Business, click Devices in the sidebar, search for the device in the search field, and select it.
  2. Click the three-dot icon at the upper right of the screen and select Unassign Device Management.
  3. The Unassign Device Management dialog appears. If the content is correct, click Confirm.

After the above steps, erase the device to remove its ADE registration.
If you register the device in the same unit after repair, assign the device to the MDM server again in Apple Business, and the device can be re-enrolled with the registered device information.

If the device is replaced with another one instead of being repaired (the serial number differs from the original device), follow the same steps as for a new device.

  • Assign the device to the MDM server in Apple Business
  • Assign an ADE profile
  • Create the device information (you can delete the old device information if it is no longer needed)
  • Activate the device
