App installation by device operation is restricted. Is there a way to add apps only to specific devices?

There are two ways to add apps to specific devices.

  1. Use the application catalog while keeping the app installation control as is
With the application catalog, you can distribute apps that the administrator has selected in advance through the catalog, and device users can select and install only the ones they need from among them.
    For details, see here.

  2. Remove the app installation control only for specific devices
Create a separate template with the following settings turned ON, and register the required devices in it.

  • Allow installing apps from the App Store (supervised only, iOS 9.0+)
  • Allow modifying account settings (supervised only, iOS 7.0+)
When you remove these restrictions, the App Store icon is displayed and users can sign in with an Apple ID, so they can purchase and install apps with their own Apple ID.
