If this error is displayed, a problem may have occurred on the device while it was processing the OS update command received from the MDM server.

If the profile setting Defer software updates sets an OS version other than the latest as the update target, an error may occur because that OS version has passed its update expiration date.

If the Software Update screen on the device does not show an OS that can be updated and displays the following message, OS updates are restricted by the Defer software updates setting in the Restrictions payload of the profile.
