Website access control is not applied in Chrome

Prerequisites

To enable access control in Chrome, you must distribute the Chrome app from the MDM using EMM.
Access control is not applied to the Chrome that came preinstalled on the device or the Chrome that the user installed themselves.

If access control does not work correctly even though you configured the required settings in Per App Settings of the profile, check the following.

To check whether the current setting is enabled or disabled, enter chrome://policy in the address bar of Chrome on the device, press Enter, and check the result below.

  • a. If access was blocked
The block setting (Block access to a list of URLs) has been applied, so check whether there is a problem with the allow setting (Allow access to a list of URLs).

  • b. If access was not blocked and the Chrome policy page opened
The access control settings have not been applied. The distribution of the Chrome app may not be complete. See the following FAQ to check whether there is a problem with the distribution conditions of the EMM app.
Q: EMM settings are enabled but apps are not distributed
