Apps are not installed or updated (Android)
If an app registered in the template is not installed on an Android device, an app is not updated, or an app removed from the template is not uninstalled, check the following items.
In this case, Installation by sync is required or Uninstallation by sync is required remains displayed on the Sync Status tab of the device details.
BizMobile Go! does not directly command the device to install, update, or uninstall Google Play Store apps (EMM). These changes are reflected on the device through Android Enterprise and Managed Google Play. Therefore, it may take several hours for the changes to take effect (Google Help).
1. The profile setting User Restriction: Prohibit installing applications
If the applied profile has User Restriction: Prohibit installing applications set, apps distributed from BizMobile Go! cannot be installed either.
In addition, an app update is treated as installing a new version over the existing one, so apps cannot be updated either.
On devices managed with Work Profile, this setting applies only to the work profile. Installing apps from the Google Play Store in the personal profile cannot be restricted because of Google's specifications.
If you want to prohibit app installation, use two templates: one for kitting and one for production use.
- Register only the apps in the kitting template, and register the same apps and the profile that prohibits installation in the production template.
- Enroll the device with the kitting template, and confirm that the status becomes
Synchronizedand the apps are installed. - Move the device to the production template and confirm that the status becomes
Synchronized.
When you update apps, apply a template in which this setting is temporarily removed.
2. Management by another MDM (such as Google Workspace)
If the device is also managed by Google Workspace mobile device management, the management apps (DPC) conflict, and apps may not be installed or updated correctly. This is because Android Enterprise allows only one management app per managed device.
To check this:
- On the
Applicationstab of the device details, turn onShow system apps. - If
Device Policy(package name:com.google.android.apps.work.clouddpc) is displayed, the Google Workspace management app is installed.
In this case, take the following actions in order.
- Ask the Google Workspace administrator to remove mobile device management for the target device in the Google Admin console.
- In BizMobile Go!, withdraw the target device.
- Create new device data (identifier) and re-enroll the device in BizMobile Go!.
Device data (identifier) that has been withdrawn once cannot be reused.
3. Device date and time
If the device's date and time differ significantly from the actual time, communication with Google Play may fail and app downloads may not proceed.
In the device's Settings, turn on automatic date and time (obtained from the network).
4. Google Play status on the device
If none of the above applies, Google Play processing may be stuck on the device. Try the following operations in order.
- Restart the device, connect it to a stable network, and wait for a while.
- Open
BizGo! Catalogon the device and sync manually. - Clear the cache of the work
Google Play Store.Settings→Apps→Google Play Store(work) →Storage & cache→Clear cache - If the problem persists, tap
Clear storage(delete data) on the same screen. Note that some settings may be deleted.
If Over Wi-Fi only is selected for Network preferences (app download settings) in the Google Play Store, downloads do not start on mobile data.
