Mac deployment flow using both ADE (formerly DEP) and VPP (per-device authentication)

If you are new to BizMobile Go!, are about to start preparing device setup (kitting), or are taking over management of devices already in operation, use this page to find the procedures for the tasks you need. This page describes the deployment flow for Macs that use ADE and VPP in Apple Business (formerly Apple Business Manager).

ADE can be used only with devices in their factory-default state. Devices already in use must be erased.

caution

Per-device authentication is the only enrollment method for Mac. Create device information in advance for each device with an identifier of your choice, and link it to the ADE device. Shared QR code authentication (automatic identifier generation) is not supported. Only App Store apps can be distributed, and only through VPP. In-house apps cannot be distributed.
